We had a great turnout for our LTAB try-outs. This is the first year that
Plainfield is participating in LTAB and I am very excited to be able to
experience this with all of you. When I realized that this should be a "team
voting" system in the beginning of the year, I was a bit concerned with how it
would work and if it would be fair. I truly believe that you have been
responsible voters and have been fair and encouraging to everyone who has tried
out. And, quite honestly, it makes it easier for me...I have ONE vote just like
each of you. These results are not because ONE person decided--rather, the group
decided who is representing for each performance. Each of you has more courage
than I EVER did as a young adult and I want you to be encouraged by this
opportunity. Never discouraged. You are all amazing and extremely talented
writers with so much to say. The creativity that comes out of you is something
that is powerful and inspiring. Please know that it's not about the points, it's
about the poetry. You will hear that throughout the LTAB experience. It's not
about "winning" as a team or as a representative to "be on" our team. You are
always a part of our team even if you did not get selected for this performance
or if you haven't been able to attend the meetings. You are always welcome to
drop in. Anytime. It's about sharing your thoughts with others and making
connections with other poets from all over the Chicagoland area. It's going to
be a life-changing experience for all of us.
The votes are in and the following students have been chosen to represent
